Hello students and families of Elysian Charter School!
My name is Nikki. I am the art teacher here at ECS. I am very excited to begin another year of art, learning, creativity, and fun! This year we will be creating art inspired by books, artists and illustrators, cultures and traditions from around the world, and art history, as we explore new art media and techniques, hone our skills, and tackle new creative challenges. If you have not already stopped by, please feel free to pop into the art room and say hello. I would love to meet you!
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me. I am a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University where I studied music (saxophone performance) and graduated with a degree in fine art and design (concentration in drawing and painting, and a strong interest in graphic design and digital illustration). I completed my Masters degree in education from William Paterson University, am a dual certified teacher (Elementary K-6 and Art K-12), and hold a supervisor certification. I am also a freelance artist, specializing in portraiture and illustration. My favorite art media to work with are pencil, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic paint, and all digital media. In addition to art and music, I love to travel, cook, write, read, watch Penn State football, swim, take photographs, and spend time with friends and family to name a few. I have a little white dog named Riley, I’m a Gemini, I love languages, optimism and all four seasons, and my favorite color is red.
I look forward to creating beautiful and thoughtful artwork together this year! Good luck!
